RSVP(Required)

On September 14th, 2023 from 10:00-12:00 PM ET, you are invited to a closed-door, invitation-only, small group workshop co-hosted by CNA and the UC Berkeley Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity (CLTC). This workshop, “Cybersecurity Futures 2030: National Security Implications for Policymakers,” is being convened as part of CNA’s National Security Seminar series

This session builds on CLTC and the World Economic Forum Centre for Cybersecurity’s  collaborative research initiative Cybersecurity Futures 2030, which is focused on exploring the future of cybersecurity and its implications to equip decision makers in industry, government, and civil society with strategic foresight that improves the quality of decisions they make today.

In this session, participants will explore major themes that emerged from a series of cybersecurity workshops held in the Middle East, North America, Europe, Africa, and South Asia. The workshops, engaging participants from military, political, academic, intelligence, and private sector backgrounds, were based on exploring four scenarios and points of view about the cybersecurity problem set in 2030. Participants were confronted with questions surrounding what choices would be required; what values may emerge; what collaborations may form; and what important new tensions and disagreements should be expected. Their discussions, and the insights drawn from them, highlighted the need for leaders in the U.S. to consider:

  1. How does the current cybersecurity framework hold up to the challenges of the not-so-distant future?
  2. What are the potential gaps in our current knowledge?
  3. What are the possible courses of action for our government, our private sector, and our citizens?

This workshop will offer you a unique opportunity to gain insight and perspective into how key actors in other regions of the world view the evolution of cybersecurity, and their preconceptions concerning potential policy preferences in the US and in their own regions. Together, we will develop a forward-looking framework that can inform long-term strategic thinking and near-term tactical decision making for critical policy choices that will advance the US’ national cybersecurity strategy over the next several years.

The workshop will be held at CNA, located at 3003 Washington Blvd., between N. Garfield and N. Highland Streets in Arlington, VA. For driving directions, please review their Contact Us page
