Nathan Malkin

Biography

Nathan Malkin is a computer science postdoctoral researcher at the SP2 lab at the University of Maryland. He studies and develops ways to make the Internet of Things technology more private — and privacy controls more equitable — for marginalized groups, continuing his PhD work from UC Berkeley’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences. In 2020, he was awarded the Cal Cybersecurity Research Fellowship for his research on more effective and thorough privacy controls for microphone-equipped Internet of Things devices.
